AlBaraka Symposium 44

AlBaraka Forum for Islamic Economy holds AlBaraka Symposium (44) titled “Maqasid of Shari’ah: The Governing Framework of Islamic Economics” on (28 – 29 February 2024) – (18 – 19 Shaaban 1445) as (Wednesday – Thursday) at 9:00 AM in the Hall of Master Muhammad Awad bin Laden – Female Campus – University of Prince Mugrin, in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.
Activation of the role of “Maqasid of Shari’ah” in the Islamic economy is not merely a regulation of Fiqh, but a guarantee of giving, its development  role, and its life-long goals.  This is done in accordance with a formula for civilization that is inspired by the realization of the common good and is innovative using Maqasid and its various goals, which include many benefits to humanity by energizing the role of values while simultaneously preserving the environment and natural resources. This will be the best assurance of giving and meeting growing needs. Sustainable development is the most recent iteration of this same concept of development.

AlBaraka Symposia

One of the most important and famous tracks of AlBaraka Forum for Islamic Economy, AlBaraka Symposium which was established in 1981, in an extended process of giving to serve the knowledge structure of the Islamic economy.
The well-known businessman Sheikh Saleh Abdullah Kamel (1941-2020), may Allah have mercy on him, founded AlBaraka Symposium, planted its seed, and ensured that it was watered and cared for by himself – for forty years. As one of the most important pioneers of Islamic economics.
AlBaraka Symposium for Islamic Economy began its activity as a Shari’ah-based and economic forum, as it represents the cornerstone in the development of Islamic economic work in terms of both the Fiqh and technical aspects.
Where certain emerging economic issues, or those with an economic dimension, are presented for discussion, and those issues are reviewed from a legal and technical perspective by a group of renowned senior scholars and jurists at the Islamic and international levels with the participation of experts in the fields finance, business, economics and Islamic finance, The goal of these discussions is to arrive at fatwas and recommendations that enrich Islamic economic work, despite its diverse fields, and offer practical solutions to the problems it faces.

Seeking appropriate solutions to the economic issues that human societies face, as determined by the two revelations and Maqasid of Shari’ah, and encouraging scientific research in the field of Islamic economy and raising the level of awareness about it.

The 44th edition of AlBaraka Symposium is being held under the title: “Maqasid of Shari’ah: The Governing Framework of Islamic Economics” which is considered an international platform that brings together annually researchers, experts, jurists, Shari’ah scholars, and economists to discuss and share ideas about the challenges and stakes facing the Islamic economy and financial industry.
In its 44th  edition, AlBaraka symposium seeks to answer many inquiries raised about the ability of the Maqasid of Shari’ah in supporting Islamic economy institutions in the context of the information and communications revolution and the demands of sustainable development and the extent of their ability to achieve future aspirations, especially in light of the crises the world is witnessing, including the roles that Maqasid of Shari’ah play in applying investment tools and employing the technology sector in financial institutions, supporting small and micro enterprises, dealing with economic crises, developing ethical standards for Islamic finance and in the takaful industry and covering various risks, activating charitable and social security institutions, supporting the Islamic economy and its institutions and confronting contemporary economic challenges.
